2017 GOSH Conference a Success

ASSE’s Columbia-Willamette Chapter partners with Oregon OSHA to sponsor the biennial Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health (GOSH) Conference. The 2017 GOSH Conference took place last month and was attended by some 1,500 safety and health professionals.

The 4-day event featured speaker Todd Conklin, whose keynote address, “Thinking Differently About Safety,” discussed a fresh approach to safety management based on principles beyond compliance, error and thinking of behavior as a cause. The event also included workshops and breakout sessions along various topic tracks including communication/training, construction, craft brewing/winemaking, emergency response and preparedness, environmental topics, and emerging EHS issues. The conference also featured the 2017 Columbia Forklift Challenge, a forklift competition that tests drivers’ safe maneuvering through obstacles and tight turns.
