Across Regions, Chapters Spread Awareness of OSH’s Importance

Several ASSE Chapters are participating in NAOSH Week this year (May 7-13) to increase awareness of the importance of occupational safety and health. Letters of Proclamation from the mayors of participating chapter groups are being posted on ASSE’s NAOSH webpage.

The Central Florida Chapter has received a proclamation from the City of Orlando and says proclamations are scheduled to be delivered from the mayors of the state’s Kissimmee, Sanford, Maitland and Fruitland Park cities.

The chapter has requested proclamations from the State of Florida, the region’s four countries, as well as from the municipalities within its countries. The chapter expects to receive more proclamations as it gets closer to NAOSH week.

“The Central Florida Chapter is also excited to announce we have initiated our first Kids-On-the-Job NAOSH Week poster contest,” Heather Earl, CSP, CPEA, a delegate for the Central Florida Chapter, says. The winners will be eligible for prizes such as Walt Disney World Waterpark tickets and gift cards to major retail chains, Earl says.

The mayor of Phoenix has confirmed with ASSE’s Arizona chapter that he will be issuing the chapter a letter of proclamation.

Chapters can download, fill out and then send the proclamation letter request form to their region’s mayors to become involved in this year’s NAOSH awareness week.
