ASSE Continues to Expand Its Global Presence

Recently more than 50 SH&E professionals met in Qatar to discuss the possibility of forming an ASSE Qatar Section within the Middle East region. (This region is currently home to four ASSE Chapters: Kuwait, Middle East, UAE and Egypt.) Attendees represented a diverse group of organizations within the region, such as academia; oil and gas production and processing; petrochemical industrites; aviation; construction; government and the medical sector.

The event included opening remarks from ASSE Middle East Chapter President Tariq Al-Ghamdi; Khalid Al-Hetmi, chair of the would-be Qatar Section; and Ken McLeod, College of the North Atlantic-Qatar president (where the meeting was held). The remarks were followed by a panel discussion, technical presentations and speakers on process safety management and radiation management. The group is in the works to become the new ASSE Qatar Section, and we’ll keep you updated on its progress.
