ASSE Members Appointed to NIOSH Board of Scientific Counselors

ASSE members Michael Behm, Ph.D., CSP, and Chris Laszcz-Davis, M.S, CIH, FAHIA, REPA, were appointed to the NIOSH Board of Scientific Counselors. The federal advisory committee provides NIOSH’s director with advice and guidance on matters concerning OSH research and prevention programs.

BehmPhotoSUBehm is a professor at East Carolina University in the Occupational Safety Program. He is a member of ASSE’s Business of Safety Committee, a professional member of the North Carolina Chapter and a member of the Academics Practice Specialty. “My hope is to be a conduit between NIOSH and ASSE on the research side of things,” Behm says. “NIOSH can strongly support the research for the betterment of workers.”


LaszczDavisLaszcz-Davis is founder and president of The Environmental Quality Organization LLC, a consulting firm in Lafayette, CA. She is a member of ASSE’s Council on Professional Affairs, a professional member of the San Francisco Chapter and a member of the Industrial Hygiene Practice Specialty. “These are exciting times with complex EH&S challenges in the workplace, on the home front and in local communities,” Laszcz-Davis says. “There is so much we need to do and can do.”

Behm and Laszcz-Davis begin serving their respective 3-year terms in January 2017.
