ASSE Pakistan Chapter Builds Legislative Bridges

The ASSE Pakistan Chapter recently met with the Prime Minster of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to seek his support for OSH legislation in the country for sustainable development in the coming years.

Left to Right: Fida Muhammad Khan, Chapter Publications Advisor; Naeem Ahmad Subhani, Chapter Vice President; Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Prime Minister of Pakistan; Muhammad Naseer, Chapter Legal Advisor; Muhammad Mehmood Khan, Chapter Secretary.

According to the chapter, many OSH laws are currently fragmented and can be dated while other sectors in the country have no existing OSH legislation at all. After deliberation through conferences, seminars and meetings, chapter leaders presented their findings to stakeholders to gain support for the chapter’s cause.

The formal meeting at the Prime Minister Secretariat in Islamabad concluded with a directive issued to the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform to work on legislation with the chapter.
