“ASSE was founded to help prevent accidents, however, when natural disasters like Hurricane Harvey occur, it’s our obligation to help those in need,” Gray wrote in an e-mail sent to all Region III members on Aug. 31. “There is no better time than now for us to join hands and help our members and others in the community affected by the storm. We have a great organization that is built to do amazing things.”

In addition to establishing a YouCaring fund for monetary donations, the group has pledged to help affected members meet a range of needs–everything from replenishing groceries and replacing clothing to helping with lodging and home repairs.

In an e-mail sent to all ASSE members on Aug. 29, ASSE President Jim Smith, M.S., CSP, encouraged members around the country to make donations to the American Red Cross to support its efforts to provide safe shelter and comfort to people affected by the natural disaster.
