ASSE’s Nigeria Chapter Hosts Successful PDC

More than 220 people were on hand for the 2016 Nigeria Chapter PDC, held March 16-18 in Lagos, Nigeria. Program speakers tackled a wide range of topics, including human error, risk management, emergency management, global safety certifications, road safety and process safety management. The event drew several high-profile guests from the region, including Fouad Oki, director general of Lagos State Safety Commission; Nofisat Arogundade, director of inspections for the Nigeria Ministry of Labor and Employment; Nnamdi Iloudiuba, president of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON); and Rignald Anyanwu, president of the National Industry Safety Council of Nigeria. Several ASSE volunteer leaders spoke at the event, including 2015-16 ASSE President Mike Belcher, CSP, Global Region Vice President Ashok Garlapati, CSP, QEP, CMIOSH, and 2012-13 ASSE President Rick Pollock, CSP, ASP. Garlapati unveiled the new Global Chapter Services website during the conference.
