ASSE’s Paul Specht Recognized for Lifetime Achievement by BCSP

paul.spechtBCSP has honored Paul G. Specht, Ph.D., CSP, with its 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award. Specht is a professor emeritus of the Occupational Safety and Environmental Health Program at Millersville (PA) University. He holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University, an M.S. in Safety from University of Central Missouri, and a B.A. from St. Charles Borromeo in Philadelphia, PA.

A professional member of ASSE’s Central Pennsylvania Chapter, Specht has more than 40 years’ experience in safety, health and emergency management, and he has worked in education, private industry and with the OSHA Consultation Program. He has worked diligently to improve the quality of OSH education through faculty development and program accreditation. He has served as chair of the ABET Applied Science Accreditation Commission, as a director on ABET’s board and as a trustee of the ASSE Foundation. He is a founding member of ASSE’s Academics Practice Specialty, and was named that group’s Safety Professional of the Year in 2008. In 2001, Specht received ASSE’s Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award, and in 2004, he was named ASSE’s William E. Tarrants Outstanding Safety Educator of the Year.
