Be an Informed Voter in the Society’s 2017 Elections

vote-165962810Candidate information, including video statements for Board of Director candidates and all candidates’ biographies and platform statements, is available on the ASSE elections web page. If you do not have access to the web page, please call ASSE at (847) 699-2929 to request copies of these materials.

This year, ASSE members will have an opportunity to vote for senior vice president; director-at-large; vice president, professional affairs; and vice president, regional affairs. Members in select regions, practice specialties and common interest groups will also elect regional vice presidents, area directors and assistant administrators.

The members elected to office will help focus the organization’s collective energy. Your votes validate that direction and give it strength. That is why it is  important to learn everything about the candidates. As 2011-12 ASSE President Terrie S. Norris, CSP, ARM, CPSI, said in her February 2012 President’s Message, “[It] is our duty to vote. . . . And it’s not just the act of voting that is important. We need to cast informed votes.”

2016-17 ASSE President Tom Cecich, CSP, CIH, offers similar encouragement. “In an organization of 37,000 members, it is difficult to personally know all the candidates. But please take the time to review the candidates’ qualifications, then vote for those you think are most qualified to lead ASSE in the future,” he said.

Voting begins March 1 and ends March 31 (electronic ballots will be sent on March 1).
