CSHS Featured in Corporate Financial Performance Webinar

PrintThe Center for Safety and Health Sustainability was recently featured in a webinar entitled “How Human Capital Impacts Corporate Financial Performance.” Moderated by Mike Wallace of BrownFlynn, the webinar features Larry Beeferman, project director of Harvard Law School’s Pensions & Capital Stewardship Project and Aaron Bernstein, Nasdaq’s director of corporate responsibility. The webinar examined latest trends and current activities in financial reporting.

Organizations are moving away from traditional financial reporting, which looks at the financial and manufacturing performance, toward a more “integrated” report that also includes human, environmental, social and intellectual capitals. The Center for Safety and Health Sustainability is contributing to a more robust understanding of the human and social capital from an OSH perspective.

The Pensions and Capital Stewardship Project includes a meta-analysis of 92 studies concerning the relationship between human capital and financial performance, including a positive correlation between human capital investment (i.e., training, human resources policies) and financial outcomes such as profitability, stock price and growth.
