Deborah Roy Honored as ASSE Fellow

ASSE’s honor of Fellow recognizes members who have displayed lifelong leadership, achievement and commitment to the OSH community. It is the Society’s highest honor. This year’s recipient is Deborah Roy, M.P.H., R.N., CSP, COHN-S, CET, FAAOHN.

Roy has been working in the safety and health field for more than 35 years. She started her career as an occupational health nurse at a small company and is now the corporate director of health, safety and wellness for L.L. Bean in Freeport, ME. Roy was elected 2018-19 senior vice president, an office that leads to 2020-21 ASSE President position.

She is a professional member of ASSE’s Maine Chapter, and a member of the International and Consultants practice specialties and Women in Safety Engineering Common Interest Group. She also serves on the advisory committee for the Consultants Practice Specialty, and on the Foundation Finance Committee.

“Deb is a consummate safety and health professional, thought leader and business executive,” said ASSE Fellow and past President Kathy A. Seabrook. “Her leadership abilities and subject matter expertise have helped raise the bar in the occupational safety and health profession. She is passionate about preventing workplace injuries rather than just responding to them.”

Roy will be honored during Safety 2018 in San Antonio, TX. View a list of all Society Fellows on ASSE’s Fellows web page.
