Get Involved in National Safety Campaigns

It’s time to spring into safety campaign season.

Construction Safety Week

Construction Safety Week raises the awareness of construction worker safety and strives to clearly communicate the belief that “every week must be Safety Week.”

Events include stand-downs as well as presentations by executives, OSHA representatives and other stakeholders. A Construction Safety Week social media tool kit, lists on how to become involved and more are available on Construction Safety Week’s website. Construction Safety initiatives can be shared with hashtag #constructionsafetyweek.

5-year-old Robert from Jacksonville, FL won NAOSH Week’s kids’ poster contest in 2015.

ASSE encourages its local chapters to raise awareness of the value of safe, healthy workplaces during North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH Week), created 20 years ago by Canadian Society of Safety of Safety Engineers (CSSE).

Visit ASSE’s 2017 Safety Events web page for suggestions on ways to participate this year, such as requesting proclamations for NAOSH Week from local government officials or sponsoring a kids poster contest. ASSE has posted several resources in Officer Central to help local chapters lead these grassroots activities.

OSHA's National Falls Stand Down

Falls from height are a leading cause of work-related injuries in the U.S. OSHA’s National Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction is part of the national Campaign to Prevent Falls in Construction sponsored by OSHA, NIOSH, CPWR—The Center for Construction Research and Training, and NIOSH’s National Occupational Research Agenda Construction Sector.

The stand-down provides ASSE members an excellent opportunity to work with their employers and communities to focus attention on workplace safety and health.

OSHA offers several tips for hosting a successful stand-down.

Safe And Sound Week

Safe + Sound Week is OSHA’s newest awareness campaign. Cosponsored by ASSE and other industry associations, the campaign aims to raise awareness and understanding for the value of proactive OSH programs in all workplaces.

OSHA offers a collection of customizable graphics, e-mail templates, infographics and more to help you promote this campaign. The agency also has created an interactive map to find the Safe + Sound Week events.

Workers Memorial Day

Workers Memorial Day was created by AFL-CIO, ASSE shares Workers Memorial Day message through social media.

Although the observance was April 28, it is never too late to commemorate workers who have died while on the job.
