ASSE’s 2017 Nigeria Safety Summit, hosted by the Society’s Nigeria Chapter, brought together hundreds of OSH professionals from around the globe to discuss the latest industry trends and best practices. The summit took place in Lagos, Nigeria, March 21-15, and provided the hundreds of attendees the opportunity to meet with OSH experts and discuss OSH topics such as safety management and risk assessment.

2016-17 ASSE President Tom Cecich, CSP, CIH, attended and delivered ASSE’s Global Safety Management Certificate Program. This was the first time the program was offered in Nigeria. “The summit coordinated the exchange of great ideas and the sharing of best practices that can boost workplace safety globally,” Cecich says. “It definitely prepares our members for the challenges faced in their OSH fields such as oil and gas, and construction, which were strongly represented at the conference.”

Cecich believes the event “achieved its mission of providing tools that enable OSH professionals to advance their careers and make significant contributions at work to effectively manage risk.”
