Globe with world flagsStarting Dec. 1, 2013, in conjunction with the ASSE Kuwait Chapter’s 7th International HSSE and Loss Prevention Professional Development Conference, ASSE will roll out its latest certificate program, the Certificate in Global Safety Management. The program will focus on safety management practices that are applicable in any country. To receive the certificate, a participant must complete 50 hours of education that includes three required seminars (28 hours) and 22 hours of electives. The 50 hours must be completed within 5 years.

Required seminars for this program include:

  • Planning and Managing Safety and Health, a 2-day seminar that provides a framework of best practices in SH&E management, addresses loss control, metrics and maintaining program quality.
  • International Standards and Legal Requirements for Safety Management, a 1-day seminar that addresses roles of statutes and standards, international legal requirements and laws.
  • Implementing a Safety and Health Management System, a 1-day seminar that guides participants in selecting and implementing the most appropriate SH&E system for their organizations.

Electives may be completed by participating in ASSE seminars, symposia, webinars and virtual symposia; chapter education events that have been awarded CEUs by ASSE; and other seminars preapproved by ASSE (Society headquarters). Participants will receive the two-volume The Safety Professional’s Handbook as well as a workbook for each seminar. In addition, they will earn 5 CEUs and, upon program completion, the Global Safety Management Certificate.
