Innovation Award Nominations Due April 8

innovateThe deadline for nominations for ASSE’s Award for Innovation in Occupational Safety Management, sponsored by Cintas, is quickly approaching. This award recognizes individuals who have addressed workplace safety challenges in innovative ways. The winner will receive a $3,000 cash prize and be recognized at Safety 2016 in Atlanta, GA, June 26-29.

The deadline for nominations is April 8, 2016. Submissions should highlight a workplace challenge and an employee’s unique solution to the issue, which was either developed or implemented within the last 5 years.

For example, last year’s winner Jack Reiter received the award for creating software that reduces machine guarding incidents. As the president and CEO of Machine Safety Management Corp., Reiter created the Machine Safety Management software to help businesses and schools conduct, store and manage machine safety audits, risk assessments and machine information.

In a recent interview, James H. (Jim) Morris III, chair of the 5-member judging panel for the award, offers some insight into the award and highlights why innovation is so important in safety. To learn more, and get details on nomination criteria, visit the Innovate 2016 website.
