Irving Scher Joins ASTM International Board of Directors

Irving Scher, P.E., Ph.D., has joined the board of directors for ASTM International, a not-for-profit organization that develops and publishes international voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services. 

Scher will join 24 other professionals from different companies, associations and government bodies during his 3-year term.

A professional member of ASSE’s Puget Sound Chapter, Scher holds a B.S.E. from University of Pennsylvania, and an M.S. and Ph.D., both in mechanical engineering, from University of California, Berkeley. 

Scher is a principal and engineer at Seattle-based Guidance Engineering and Applied Research, an engineering and scientific consulting company that performs in-depth research and analysis. Scher is a scientific committee chair and a board member for the International Society for Skiing Safety and has coauthored several publications.
