Joseph Whiteman Named Manager for ASCC

Joseph Whiteman, CSP, ASP, CHST, of La Quinta, CA, was recently named manager of safety services for American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC). In this new role, Whiteman will oversee all safety and risk management activities for the organization, and provide communication support for its members.

Whiteman, a member of ASSE’s San Diego and Orange County chapters as well as the Society’s Young Professionals Common Interest Group and Construction Practice Specialty, has been in the safety profession for many years. Prior to ASCC, Whiteman was senior safety manager for Morley Builders Inc. for 5 years, project safety manager for Indian Wells Golf Resort for 2 years and safety manager for Turner Construction for 6 years. He also served as director on the Safety & Risk Management Council board for 3 years.

Whiteman holds an Associate of Science in Environmental Technology—Occupational Health and Safety from Cuyamaca College, in El Cajon, CA, and served as a scout team leader with Alpha Co., 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was awarded with a Presidential Unit Citation, a National Defense Medal and a Purple Heart.
