Kuwait Chapter Hosts 6th International HSSE Conference

ASSE’s Kuwait Chapter recently held its 6th International Health, Safety, Security Environment (HSSE) and Loss Prevention Conference & Exhibition in the State of Kuwait. The objective of the conference was to promote workplace SH&E worldwide by providing a forum for practitioners from all sectors to share their experience, best practices and technical advancements.

The conference featured 60 technical papers presented by experts from Kuwait and abroad, on topics including fire safety, SH&E management, loss prevention and business continuity, process safety, facility security, environment and sustainability.

During the event, the Kuwait Chapter honored its chapter Safety Professional of the Year, Mohammad K.S. Mohiuddeen, CSP, for his outstanding contributions to the chapter and the profession. The Chapter Longevity Award was also presented to Fadhel Al-Ali for his outstanding contributions and continuous support to the chapter over the past decade.

The conference also was the venue for a special meeting of the Women in Safety Engineering (WISE) common interest group. The interactive program hosted more than 30 SH&E professionals from government, corporations and consultants. The group was addressed by ASSE President Terrie S. Norris, CSP, ARM, who delivered a thought-provoking speech on WISE. During the meeting, the Kuwait Chapter recognized Fatima Al Abdali, Senior HSE Group, Kuwait Oil Co., who was named one of 12 Best Women in HSE, Science and Technology across the Middle East and North Africa; and Fatima Al Shatti, Acting Manager – Environment, Kuwait Petroleum Corp., who was named one of the 100 Women in Safety Engineering.
