Marla Toma Appointed VP at Cardno

ASSE member Marla Toma, CSP, has been appointed as Americas Region Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) for Cardno, professional infrastructure and environmental services firm. In this role, Toma will oversee a range of safety initiatives across the firm’s operations.

Toma has more than 25 years’ experience as an OSH professional, most recently serving as HSE director for the company’s Natural Resources Management & Health Sciences Division. She has extensive safety expertise in oil spill response and has worked as a chemist and quality control officer on multiple hazardous waste, oil spill assessment and remediation projects.

“Marla has an exemplary record across health and safety, environmental chemistry and quality assurance,” says Mark Swatek, Cardno Americas Region President and General Manager. “She has contributed significantly to developing and managing Cardno’s Zero Harm safety program and we look forward to her providing leadership to our HSEQ staff and improving the effectiveness of our safety programs.”

Toma holds a B.S. in Chemistry and a Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management from the University of California at Davis. She has also completed ASSE’s Executive Program in Safety Management. She is a professional member of the San Francisco Chapter and a member of the Society’s Women in Safety Engineering Common Interest Group.
