Members Receive Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award

The Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award recognizes ASSE Board members, committee members or practice specialty officers who have provided outstanding volunteer service to the Society in the past year. This year’s recipients are Eric Hallerud, Wayne Hartz, Ann Lindsey, Gary Lopez, James Ramsay and Eric Voight.

HallerudEric Hallerud, corporate safety manager for the City of Kansas City, has led ASSE’s Leadership Conference Committee for the past 3 years, in which conference attendance has grown and attendee satisfaction has been steadily high.





Wayne Hartz, Ph.D., CSP, associate professor, Keene State College, has been an active member of ASSE’s Educational Standards Committee since 2012.  His 2014 dissertation and committee work has focused on the need and development of OSH Educational Standards.





James D. Ramsay, Ph.D., CSP, professor of Security Studies, University of New Hampshire, has been an active member of ASSE’s Educational Standards Committee since 1999, and has been its chair since 2006. He is ASSE’s representative to the ABET Board of Directors/Delegates and is responsible for leading and establishing the Society’s vision for academic standards. He also served on CDC/NIOSH Board of Scientific Counselors for four years and currently serves on the CDC/NIOSH Institutional Review Board. A co-founder of the Academics Practice Specialty, he developed the Journal of Safety, Health and Environmental Research, is a former ABET Commissioner, veteran of several accreditation site visits, former member of Professional Safety’s Editorial Review Board and several ASSE committees/task forces.


LindseyAnn Lindsey, CSP, CET, president, Lindsey Consulting, served as chair for the Chapter Operations Committee and led its effort to update of Officer Central. She also served on the Leadership Conference Committee.




LopezGary Lopez, CSP, president, Risky Biz Services, served as chair of the Standards Development Committee for eight years, providing leadership with Society’s involvement in OHS standards development.




VoightEric Voight, CSP, safety manager, Conner Strong Cos., chaired the task force that developed the ASSE construction Safety Symposium. Eric also works within the Council on Practice and Standards.
