Members Receive Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award

The Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award recognizes ASSE board members, committee members or practice specialty officers who have provided outstanding volunteer service to the Society in the past year. Here are this year’s recipients:

Maribeth A. Anderson, M.P.A., CSP, is Vice President of ASSE’s Council on Region Affairs. She has improved communication among the councils and ASSE’s board of directors. She has also helped the Society’s regional vice presidents collaborate and build a consistent, strong model to serve chapters. Anderson is crisis and continuity management advisory for BP, and she is a professional member of ASSE’s Greater Chicago Chapter and Hawaii Chapter.

 

 

Allen J. Borzych has been an active member of ASSE’s Future Safety Leaders Conference Committee since 2010 and has developed a diverse network of safety professionals to serve as facilitators for that event. Borzych is president/owner of Bailey, Bosco & Borzych, and he is a member of ASSE’s Greater Chicago Chapter.

 

 

 

Daniel G. Hopwood, CSP, ARM, has been Region 1 Vice President since 2015 and Deputy of the Council on Region Affairs this past year. In those roles, he has helped the council define initiatives that align with ASSE’s strategic direction. Hopwood is region safety and health officer for Zenith Insurance, and he is a professional member of ASSE’s San Diego Chapter.

 

 

Martin P. Jeppeson, CSP, ARM, has chaired the Education and Training Committee since 2015, leading it to achieve measurable improvements for regions and chapters. This included the development of 13 online training modules and a series of face-to-face trainings for chapter leaders. Jeppeson is director of regulatory affairs for CALAMCO, and he is a professional member of ASSE’s Sacramento Chapter.

 

 

Alyssa Lynough, CSP, ASP, has been a leader within the Young Professionals in OSH Common Interest Group this past year. She developed the YP Lunch & Learn concept and organized speakers for the program’s professional development tracks. Lynough is EHS manager of MilliporeSigma, and she is a professional member of ASSE’s Greater Boston Chapter.

 

 

James R. Thornton, CSP, CIH, has been a dedicated leader as Vice President of ASSE’s Council of Professional Affairs and is responsible for several committees, including Government Affairs, Technical and Professional Recognition, Risk Assessment and Educational Standards. He is president of Alpha LLC, and he is a professional member of ASSE’s Greater Tidewater Chapter.
