Members Receive Charles V. Culbertson Volunteer Service Award

The Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award recognizes Board members, committee members or practice specialty officers who have provided outstanding volunteer service to the Society in the past year. This year’s recipients are: Kelly A. Bernish, Jeffery A. Camplin, Hamid Fonooni, Joel M. Haight, Maureen M. Johnson, Dustin G. Richartz and Jennifer Zipeto.

Kelly A. Bernish, manager of safety and health operations and compliance for Walt Disney World, is chair of the Women In Safety Engineering (WISE) common interest group and was a key contributor to the WISE 100 Women Making a Difference in the Safety, Health and Environmental Field project. She is a professional member of the Central Florida Chapter.

 

 

Jeffery C. Camplin, M.S., CSP, CPEA, a professional member of the Northeastern Illinois Chapter, was recognized for leading the development of ASSE’s Body of Knowledge. In addition, he recently chaired the task force that developed and delivered the Prove It: Measuring Safety Performance symposium. Camplin is president of Camplin Environmental Services Inc.

 

 

Hamid Fonooni, Ph.D., CPE, a professional member of the Eastern Carolina Chapter, is the Academic Practice Specialty Administrator, provides exemplary service to the Educational Standards Committee and is involved in safety academic program accreditation as an ABET volunteer. He is an associate professor, program coordinator for the Department of Technology Systems at East Carolina University.

 

 

Joel M. Haight, Ph.D., P.E., is branch chief for the Human Factors Branch Office of Mine Safety and Health Research, at CDC-NIOSH. A professional member of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter, Haight was recognized for being a contributing author and editor of The Safety Professionals Handbook, 2nd Edition.

 

 

 

Maureen M. Johnson, CSP, a professional member of the Worcester County Chapter, was part of the WISE leadership team and headed up the review for the WISE 100 Women Making a Difference in the Safety, Health and Environmental Field book. She is chair of the Human Resources Branch of the Management Practice Specialty and is integrated health services program manager for IBM Integrated Health Services.

 

 

Colorado Chapter professional member Dustin G. Richartz, M.P.H., CSP, is AVP regional risk control manager for Beecher Carlson. He played an important role in coordinating and organizing Safety 2012, specifically with a focus on the technical tours, greeters and moderators.

 

 

Jennifer Zipeto, CSP, is senior health and safety manager at Walt Disney World. A professional member of the Central Florida Chapter, Zipeto is vice chair of WISE and played an important role in developing the WISE 100 Women Making a Difference in the Safety, Health and Environmental Field book.
