Nominate a Colleague for a Society Award

Each year ASSE recognizes those SH&E professionals who have achieved greatness within the industry. Such professionals have demonstrated their commitment to the profession through volunteerism, expertise and involvement in ASSE. These highest-level awards given by the Society are:

  • ASSE Fellow: This is the Society’s most prestigious honor, as it recognizes a lifetime of commitment to worker safety and health. Leaders in the occupational safety and health community, those nominated for honor of ASSE Fellow must be uniquely qualified, be nominated by a petition coordinator and have at least six sponsors. The nomination deadline for the 2013 award is Nov. 1, 2012.
  • Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year: Created in memory of Edgar Monsanto Queeny, who was commited to protecting workers from industrial accidents and health hazards, this award recognizes a safety professional who demonstrates outstanding achievements in safety while helping to advance the profession. The nomination deadline for the 2013 award is Nov. 1, 2012.
  • Outstanding Safety Educator: This award recognizes exemplary achievements in SH&E education. Nominees must be professional members who are full-time faculty members (associate professor or above) in an SH&E or closely related program; be able to show evidence of 5 years’ successful teaching in a tenure-track position; and have not been named a Fellow. Candidate nominations are due Jan. 1, 2013, by mail, and Jan. 7, 2013, electronically.
