R. Ronald Sokol Appointed to ACCSH

Ron_Sokol_150pxASSE’s R. Ronald Sokol, CSP, has been appointed to OSHA’s Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH). The committee is charged with advising the agency on setting construction standards and policy matters that affect federally financed or assisted construction projects.

A professional member of the Society’s Gulf Coast Chapter and member of its Construction Practice Specialty, Sokol is president and CEO of Safety Council of Texas City, a nonprofit corporation specializing in providing petrochemical industry contractors with training on safety, health, environmental and security issues. Sokol has also served on NIOSH’s National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA). “Safety professionals are problem solvers at their core,” Sokol says. “Having an opportunity to assist OSHA in creating safety and health solutions that protect the working men and women in the construction industry is what I signed up for over 37 years ago. My passion for accomplishing this goal drives me to ensure this dialogue of worker safety and health never gets lost in the American construction industry.”
