Recap: NAOSH Week & Safety Stand-Down

Last month, ASSE encouraged members to participate in two important OSH events: North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week and the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction.

Four Corners Chapter Poster Contest

OSHA’s third annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, which took place May 2-6, 2016, combined efforts by ASSE, OSHA, NIOSH, the Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR), and others to remind and educate employers and workers in the construction industry the dangers of falls. Employers were encouraged to take a moment out of their workday for topic discussions, demonstrations, and training on how to recognize hazards and prevent falls. Many took to Twitter to share their safety stand-down story using hashtag: #StandDown4Safety. You can share your story by visiting OSHA’s Safety Stand-Down web page.

NAOSH Week, May 1-7, 2016, also aimed to raise awareness of hazards within the workplace, at homes and in communities. ASSE’s Four Corners Chapter participated in NAOSH Week by launching a poster contest to spread awareness of workplace safety and how it affects workers’ lives within their community.
