Special Events at Safety 2016

SAFETY2016_NavyMany treats are in store for attendees of this year’s conference, taking place June 26-29 in Atlanta, GA. A powerhouse slate of dynamic speakers will engage keynote and general session audiences, while more than 245 concurrent sessions provide the foundation for this premier OSH educational conference. Participants will want to take advantage of the many additional opportunities that accompany the education sessions, particularly those that provide an informal backdrop for developing a professional network.

Expo Hall Sessions & Demos

New this year, the exposition will feature flash sessions, which are brief education snippets taking place at various locations around the expo hall. Also new, a series of super sessions will deliver four of the most popular education sessions right on the expo floor.

In addition, exhibitors will have the opportunity to offer hands-on demonstrations, allowing participants to interactively experience the safety products and services these companies offer.

Career Center

ASSE will host a career center on site for college students, young professionals and experienced practitioners seeking new employment opportunities. Attendees can register ahead of time on ASSE’s job board, which is linked to the on-site career center to connect jobseekers and companies.

The career center will feature job postings, resume critiques, mock interviews and opportunities to meet with representatives from potential employers. Be sure to have plenty of resumes on hand and sign up for a time slot on site.

ASSE Foundation Raffle

ASSE Foundation will hold a raffle to simplify the experience for attendees interested in supporting OSH educational advancement, research and leadership development. The concept is simple: Buy a raffle ticket for a chance to split the pot with Safety Matters, the Foundation’s signature fund. In any event, your purchase will help the profession. Tickets start at $5.

Common Interest Group Events

Several common interest groups (CIGs) are planning special activities, such as the Women in Safety Engineering CIG Personal Development Retreat, which focuses on women in business and the unique challenges and stresses they face. The event will include educational and career-oriented sessions. The Safety Professionals and the Latino Workforce CIG will host a Latin American reception with live music and refreshments. And the Young Professionals in OSH CIG will host fireside chats with OSH senior leaders in its lounge. The group will also host a night out networking event, providing an additional opportunity to interface with senior leaders.
