Society Update is your member e-newsletter. Tell us about your activities and accomplishments, and share those stories with other ASSE members! Just send us the “who, what, when, where, why” along with a photo or graphic that complements your story, and we’ll do the rest!

Member News

Each issue of Society Update includes news about you – ASSE members. Were you recently hired or promoted, or did your company recently hire or promote an ASSE member? Were you appointed to a local, regional or national safety committee? Did you receive an award for your accomplishments in SH&E? Don’t be shy, tell us about it! It’s OK to toot your own horn. Sharing your accomplishments and activities can inspire other SH&E professionals.

You don’t have to be a writer or a PR pro to get the word out. Just send us a quick e-mail to share your news – in your own words. Be sure to include a photo if you have one! We will do the rest.

Here are some examples of stories we have included in the past:

  • Member promoted
  • Member newly hired
  • Member appointed to safety-related committee
  • Member receives local, regional, national safety-related award
  • Member earns degree or certification
  • Company receives safety-related award and whose safety director is a member
  • Member publishes book

Chapter News

Is your chapter actively involved in the community? Promoting the profession? Educating students about safety or the SH&E profession? Holding a fundraiser to support the ASSE Foundation? Tell us about those events and activities. Stories about your chapter’s activities can help spark ideas and get other chapters involved too.

Again, you don’t have to be a writer or PR whiz to share your story. Send us the basic information about when, where, who, how and why, along with photos, and we will do the rest!

Here are some examples of stories we have included in the past:

  • Chapter holds golf outing fundraiser for ASSE Foundation donation
  • Chapter holds PDC
  • Chapter reaches out to community to teach the public about safety
  • Chapter works with local children’s group
  • Chapter participates in community volunteer effort
  • Chapter donates funds to local community program or facility
  • Chapter members speak at regional/national conference

Safety Suitcase

ASSE’s Safety Suitcase is an informational tool that members can use when visiting schools to talk about the SH&E profession. Have you used the safety suitcase to educate children in your community? Tell us about it!

Send us information about your presentation, how you helped to teach kids about this exciting career option, as well as photos with you and the children.

SH&E Generations

Many ASSE members have parents or children who are also in the SH&E profession. Do you have a son or daughter who followed in your footsteps? Did a parent’s involvement in the profession encourage you to become a safety professional? If so, ASSE would like to hear your story. Tell us your SH&E Generations story.
